Managing your time while at home can be a minefield of Netflix binges and YouTube deep dives. We got an expert HR trainer to give us her top tips for time management for studying from home, whether you’re finishing an assignment or prepping for finals.
Ace that final with these pro tips from an HR and soft skills trainer:
1. Sleep
Personally our favourite tip, our expert recommends you get at least 6-8 hours of shut eye every night to stay on top of your goals. For extra points, set an alarm and get up around the same time every day.
2. Create a master agenda
Take 10 minutes before you settle into bed to plan out all the things you have to do tomorrow. Use planners and checklists to write it all down; there’s no feeling quite as satisfying as physically checking something off.
3. Eliminate distractions.
Designate a space for studying and working and enable exam mode. That means putting your phone away and cordoning off fellow quarantiners (that includes pets) while you’re getting those tasks done.
4. Work on one thing at a time
It can feel like a lot when you first face your to-do list. To stop yourself from getting overwhelmed, divide bigger tasks into smaller ones and work in short bursts rather than one long stretch. Make it a sprint, not a marathon.
5. Work smarter, not harder
Map out a project plan and use it to set goals for each study sesh- keep them short and simple. Start on your assignments early and use your ISIC Card to get all the help you need to nail that paper with Perlego, the largest online university library. Check the offer right here.
Managing your time studying from home can seem impossible, but hopefully we’ve given you a few ideas!
